Alicia Sacramone invited to participate in the
US Women's Team Selection Camp for the
2005 World Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Alicia Sacramone, 17 of Brestyan's Gymnastics Club in Ashland, Massachusetts is one of six women participating in the T.J. Maxx U.S. Women's Team Selection Camp for the 2005 World Championships, Nov. 22-27, in Melbourne, Australia. The four-woman squad will be announced on Nov. 14; selection is based on performances during the camp, Nov. 9-13. Alicia most recently earned an unprecedented three GOLD medals at the 2005 Pan American Gymnastics Championships, held on October 6 - 9th, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Alicia, acting as Team Captain, earned three 1st place GOLD medals on the Vault with a score of 9.512, Floor Exercise with a score of 9.438, and in the team competition. The Pan Am Championships was the last International Competition before the upcoming 2005 World Championships in Melbourne, Australia. Sacramone will be a top contender for medals on vault and floor exercise at the upcoming Worlds Competition. Alicia's international competition experience, and maturity is an asset to the United States Women's team.

The United States Women's team scored a 110.959 easily securing the GOLD medal, Brazil took second place with a score of 108.691, and Canada took third with 102.179.

At the 2005 Visa Championships, Sacramone, who competes for Brestyan's Gymnastics, won the title in both the vault and floor exercise, as well as third on the balance beam. Sacramone's 9.9 in the floor exercise finals was the first 9.9 or better awarded in the women's division of national competition since 1996.

Mihai Brestyan, of Brestyan's Gymanastics Club in Ashland, Massachusetts, accompanied Alicia taking a role as Head Coach of the USA's 5 woman squad. Last month, Mihai was awarded the prestigious title of "Coach of the Year" and Alicia was named "Sportswoman of the Year".
